My Journey as a Family Therapist
Experience to Guide You Through Life's Challenges
I have 35 years of social work and psychotherapy experience. I have a masters degree and I am a registered Social Worker (#802174). Through my career, I have worked with children and families, teens and adults. My work with adults has been primarily in the area of domestic violence and healthy relationships. I specialized in family therapy with families who have experienced trauma, child behaviour problems, and family breakdowns. I have worked with teens and young adults on healthy relationships and finding direction in their lives. My clients often find that complex problems can be resolved using individual and family strengths and by facilitating communication.
Your Path to a Winning Game
Many people seek services when they feel caught in a losing game. Most people do their best to resolve their problems before seeking therapy. When they do reach out for help, they feel discouraged, with little chance of success or a positive outcome. In my therapy practice, I seek to discern when clients are trapped by their unique patterns of thinking. I incorporate principles of cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, and Solution-Focused therapy. I have developed a resource toolkit for skills building to help people better navigate conflict and initiate change.
An Inclusive Approach to Healing
You will find my services to be compassionate and supportive. I am comfortable exploring spirituality when this is important to clients. My services follow an anti-oppressive approach that honours the contributions of all genders, sexual orientations, cultures and ages.
Your Partner in Growth
I am engaged in a process of personal and professional growth, and I welcome clients who are seeking this for themselves.
